The E421B is a shotgun microphone sys-

Standard system setup:

Themicrophoneispoweredbythebatterybox.Whichprovides

poweraswellasalowcutlterforloweringwindnoiseinwindy

condition.Whenthereisnopowerfromtherecordingdevice,orthe

devicedoesn’tprovidelowcutltertolowerwindnoise,youcan

alwaysusethebatteryboxofE421Bsystemtopowerthemicro-

phoneandcutoutthelowfrequencynoise.

Plug-in power system setup:

Themicrophoneispoweredbytherecordingdevice.Thereisno

lowcutlteratthemicrophone,butyoumayndthislterinthe

recordingdevice.Refertothemanualofyourrecordingdevice.

Inthisway,youdon’thavetopreparebatteriesforE421B,andcan

focusonyourrecordingdevice.

However,youstillneedthesuspensiononthebatterybox,oryou

shallincorporateanothershockmountsuchasSuperluxHM40.

Intheillustrationover-leftpage,aboompolewasshownwithE421

suspendedwithSuperluxHM40shockmount.Themicrophoneis

connecteddirectlytotherecordingdevicewhichisaDVcamcorder

withplug-inpower.Amonitoringheadphonewasalsoshown.
